FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
THERMOMETER, SELF-INDICATING, LIQUID-IN-GLASS, MINIMUM
(METEOROLOGICAL)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this federal
specification by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for two types and ten classes of organic
liquid-in-glass, low temperature, complete immersion thermometers.
1.2 Classification. The thermometers shall be of the following types and classes. The type and
class to be furnished shall be as specified (see 6.2).
Type I - Celsius (Centigrade) scale
-20 °C to +60 °C
Class 1:
-30 °C to +50 °C
Class 2:
-40 °C to +45 °C
Class 3:
-70 °C to +35 °C
Class 4:
As specified in the contract or purchase order (not to exceed a span of 100 °C).
Class 5:
